Filumena Marturano is a dramatic play written in 1946 in which a former prostitute tricks the wealthy shopkeeper she’s been dating for 20 years into marriage so she can get the name for the 3 children she had while she was at the brothel. Sophia Loren plays her in the 1964 movie Marriage Italian-style.
